Comprehensive Eye Exams
Our doctors and team are committed to making your vision care experience a positive one. After reviewing the findings of your comprehensive vision exam, we will guide you through your vision correction options including proper selection of contact lenses, lenses, designer frames and sunglasses.
We direct bill most vision insurance plans. Our staff will be happy to assist you in this process.
Senior's Eye Exams
Senior’s age 65 and over are covered for vision exam through Alberta Health Care. No additional fees will be charged.
Our doctors recommend an annual eye exam for individuals age 65 and over. As we age, our risks for eye disease (such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration) increase. Early detection is your best chance of avoiding vision loss associated with these and other conditions.
Children's Eye Exams
Vision exams are covered by Alberta Health Care for all children under the age of 19.
According to the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO), all children should have their first eye exam at 6 months of age.
Common conditions that our doctors will look for include amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed eyes), myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism. Early detection of these conditions is essential to ensure the proper development of our children’s eyes.
Why you should get your children’s eyes tested before they start school
Diabetic Eye Health Assessment
Diabetes is one of the leading causes of blindness in Canadians of all age groups. This service is covered by Alberta Health care with no cost to the patient. A regular comprehensive diabetic eye health exam helps reduce your risks. Our doctors perform comprehensive diabetic eye health assessments (which includes digital retinal imaging and dilated fundus exam). They will share the information with your physician or diabetic specialist to ensure you are getting the best care available. A referral to a retinal specialist will be arranged if surgical intervention is required.
Cataract Surgery Referrals and Co-management
Cataract surgery involves removal of the natural lens of the eye after if has become opaque. It is then replaced it with a synthetic lens.
Our doctors will assess your cataracts and help you decide if cataract surgery is right for you. They will arrange a timely assessment with a cataract surgeon.
Cataract evaluation is done as part of a routine eye exam or can be arranged separately at a patient’s request.
